Lightning Bolts - Basic Tutorial

This tutorial will teach you how to make realistic lightning bolts.

Step One. Make a new document 400 by 100 pixels.

Step Two. Reset your colors by pressing D.

Step Three. Grab your Gradient Tool and use the following settings:

Step Four. Now drag from left to middle, and from right to middle.

Step Five. Your picture should look like the following now:

Step Six. Go to Filter/Render/Difference Clouds, your picture should now look like:

Step Seven. Invert your project by pressing Ctrl+I.

Step Eight. Now go to Image/Adjustments/Levels.

Step Nine. Use these settings: 220/0.10/255, all in the top input boxes:

Step Ten. Press Ctrl+U to bring up the Hue/Saturation dialog, heres what I used:
